Visit the International Admissions Office

Exchange and Visiting Students on a J-1 visa

Housing

-All exchange students must live on-campus and have one of the two meal plans (14 meals per week or 19 meals per week).

Employment (On-campus only)

-Only exchange students who will be attending WC for two semesters are permitted to work on-campus.

-Initial employment must be approved by the Office of International Programs, so that appropriate paperwork can be completed.

-Students can not work more than 20 hours a week, or in more than two jobs.

-Job offer and social security application must occur during their first semester.

Health Insurance

-All international students must purchase the Washington College Health Insurance.

Courses

-Exchange students must take at least 12 WC credits to maintain their J-1 visa.

-Exchange students must not take more than 20 WC credits.

Four Year Matriculating International Students on a F-1 visa

Housing

-All first year students must live on-campus and have one of the two meal plans (14 meals per week or 19 meals per week).

-All F-1 students are permitted to work on-campus.

-Initial employment must be approved by the Office of International Programs, so that appropriate paperwork can be completed.

Study Abroad

-All F-1 visa students must be studying in a major that requires an International experience to be eligible to keep their financial aid grants while studying abroad.
